The Proclamation of the Republic of Turkey is a pivotal and significant moment in Turkish history, marking a profound transformation that gave birth to the modern Turkish state and shaping the future of the country. 

The Turkish Embassy in Abuja on Friday, October 27, 2023, hosted a grand event to celebrate the Turkish National Day. We were honoured to share in this celebration as WTC Abuja was invited as a special guest due to the existing relationship with the Turkish Embassy in the areas of facilitating bilateral trade relations cutting across diverse industries. 

The event witnessed a bustling atmosphere as dignitaries, diplomats, foreign mission heads, military representatives, and high-profile guests gathered to commemorate this special occasion.  

The Turkish Ambassador to Nigeria, Amb. Mr. Hidayet Bayraktar stated in his welcome address that they remain committed to fostering and continuing bilateral relations as seen with the presence of more than 100 Turkish companies operating in Nigeria, providing job opportunities, and contributing to the Nigerian economy. He also highlighted some of the prevailing challenges facing the region such as terrorism and organised crime while he reaffirmed their support to the Nigerian government and military in overcoming these challenges as they are now subject to international concerns. Beyond the fight against terrorism, he reinforced the commitment of the Turkish government in bilateral trade and economic cooperation. 

The Turkish National Day celebration showcased the essence of diplomacy, fostering connections, and celebrating international relationships. Representatives from WTC Abuja witnessed an exotic ambiance and atmosphere richly designed for a modern and elegant networking, accompanied by an array of Turkish food, drinks and live music. 

The event gave attendees the perfect opportunity to establish new connections and strengthen existing ones. WTC Abuja also engaged in the networking activity with guests as a means of expanding our reach in the diplomatic sphere.
